How it works
How is end-of-service pay calculated in Saudi Arabia?
Under article 84 of the Saudi Labour Law the employee earns half a month's last wage for each of the first five years and a full month's wage for each year after that. A part of a year counts in proportion to the days worked, and the last wage includes the basic wage and fixed allowances.
How much do you get if you resign?
Article 85 reduces the award when the employee resigns: nothing before two years of service, a third of the award from two to under five years, two thirds from five to under ten years, and the full award after ten years. Leaving under article 81 or 87 keeps the full award.
Is unused leave paid on top?
Yes. Annual leave the employee did not take is paid separately at the last wage, one thirtieth of the monthly wage for each day. The calculator adds it to the award so you see the total to pay.
Questions
Which wage is used for the end-of-service award?
The last wage: the basic wage plus recurring allowances such as housing and transport. Commissions and other variable pay count unless the contract leaves them out.
Does the employee get anything when resigning before two years?
No award under article 85. The employee still receives wages earned and the pay for unused annual leave.
Can I enter Hijri dates?
Yes. Switch the dates to Hijri and the calculator converts them to the Gregorian calendar with the Umm al-Qura calendar before it counts the days.
